Step by step guide - Removing gel nails & gel polish at home

There are two methods for removing the material.

Method 1 (Soak off method):

Soak a cotton ball with Soak off liquid and wrap the nail.

To keep the cotton ball in place, you can use metal foil and wrap it around the cotton ball, or use a plastic clip.

(The nail expert prefers plastic clips as they are reusable and are both easier to attach and hold the tweezers better in place, but this is simply a matter of taste.)

Leave on for 10-20 minutes and then carefully scrape off the material with a nail scraper. These are often found in metal, plastic and wood.

Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards with soap and water, then apply cuticle oil over your nails and cuticles.

Method 2 (El-fils method):

This method requires significantly more practice before trying it on real nails.

To get the technique right, we recommend practicing on a silicone hand or plastic finger.

Once you get the hang of this technique, this is the absolute most effective method for removing material from your nails.

An electric nail file should be constantly moving over the nail plate. If you stand in the same place for too long and file, heat will be generated that will give a burning sensation and you risk damaging the nail plate. This can happen within a microsecond, which is why it is very important to start practicing on a dummy hand if you are a beginner.
